Made green in Italy
THE CERTIFICATION
Made Green in Italy (MGI) is the national voluntary scheme promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) to assess and communicate the environmental footprint of products that meet the requirements of “Made in Italy” and comply with sustainability criteria according to national benchmarks.
The MGI mark is issued based on the Product Category Rules (PCR), which define the evaluation procedures for the environmental footprint of each specific product category.
The methodology applied is the PEF (Product Environmental Footprint), recognized at the European level for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of products.
MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA (CAM)
Within the framework of Green Public Procurement (GPP), the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) serve as the main tool for selecting project solutions, products, and services with low environmental impact throughout their life cycle.
The MASE Decree of August 5, 2024 introduced the "Made Green in Italy" mark among the rewarding criteria in the awarding of services and works related to the design, construction, maintenance, and upgrading of road infrastructure (CAM Roads).
THE ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT OF OUR PRODUCTS
High-density polyethylene pipes for pressure applications – NADIR, NADIR PLUS, NADIR PLUS BISTRATO, NADIRSAFE, NADIR SAFE BISTRATO, NADIR GAS, NADIR PLUS GAS, NADIR PLUS GAS BISTRATO.
The analysed product is a PE100 or PE100-RC pipe DN/OD 110 SDR17, belonging to representative product 1: “A system of smooth polyethylene pipes SDR17 (nominal diameter 110 mm) for the under pressure transport of water, drains and sewers and gas”.
The functional unit (FU) used for the evaluation is the transport of 100 meters of fluid, in accordance with the applicable PCR.
The life cycle includes:
- Production and transport of raw materials
- Pipe production and waste management
- Transport and on-site installation
- End-of-life transport and treatment
The NUPI polyethylene pipes, with a score of 5,68E-02, achieved a result below the threshold of Class B (6.01E-02) of the reference benchmark, placing them in PERFORMANCE CLASS A.
