NIRON PP-RCT FOR THE RENOVATION OF AN ICE RINK

The NIRON PP-RCT system, featuring pre-insulated manifolds, was used for the renovation of the ice rink in Pinzolo in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige. The NIRON PP-RCT system is designed for large radiant surface areas and allows for the welding of supply and return manifolds to a radiant network made of flexible PPR piping. This facilitates rapid installation, as the flexible pipes can be joined directly to the manifolds via polyfusion welding. The supply and return manifolds can be prefabricated at the factory or assembled on-site, using NIRON Clima pipe—a three-layer, glass-fiber-reinforced PP-RCT pipe—as the main conduit, which effectively limits thermal expansion. This system can be used to construct both the permafrost-maintaining radiant network and the anti-permafrost circuit—a “warm” radiant loop positioned beneath the insulation layer—to direct the cold flow toward the rink surface while preventing the underlying screeds from freezing. Consequently, the entire system is built using a single, highly durable material that is resistant to corrosion and oxidation, while also being easy to install.
